To follow up on a article I just wrote about email I found link to one from the Harvard Business School.
I believe it goes into more detail and has some great ideas in it and is really worth the 5 minute read.

The quoting techniques you touched on earlier are so important. It happens in mailing lists so much. Messages turn into 470-something KB of characters because people don't bother to remove signatures, headers, and superfluous information.
